CHICAGO, IL – May 16, 2013 – Now that spring is finally here, the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois (BBB) took a poll to see what type of projects people are planning to do this season.
Appearance projects were the clear winners over energy saving work.
More than 60 percent of respondents indicated they planned to enhance the look of their homes. Leading the picks was landscaping work with 25 percent. Driveway and sidewalk repairs or replacement came in second with 19 percent, while house painting was third at 17 percent.
The poll also revealed that 16 percent of respondents plan to do patio work, 14 percent plan to do window or door replacement and 9 percent plan to install central air conditioning.
“According to our poll, it will be a busy season for spring fix-ups. It is important for consumers do research before choosing a business for their project.” explained Steve J. Bernas, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois.
Consumers need to check first at www.bbb.org for specific suggestions on how to avoid home fix-up scams, get the best value for their money, and check out contractors before starting work.
Specific poll responses include: Landscaping 25%, driveway and sidewalk work 19%, house painting 17%, patio and deck repair or replacement 16%, window or door replacement 14%, central air conditioning installation 9%.
